UreaPRO is Indicated to treat Euvolemic and Hypervolemic Hyponatremia/SIADH/SIAD

UreaPRO has the same safety and efficacy of ure-Na which is used in America's hospitals. UreaPRO is an alternative to ure-Na for patients who lack coverage for ure-Na or who are cost sensitive.

UreaPRO is available in Powder and Tablets

UreaPRO bag with 30 doses with 15 grams of urea per dose.

UreaPRO Powder comes in a bag with Thirty 15 gram urea doses and a dosing scoop that measures the 15g dose.

UreaPRO is a lower cost option to treat hyponatremia patients with urea. Unlike ure-Na, UreaPRO needs to be flavored. Flavoring recipes are available on this site on the Flavoring UreaPRO page.

The urea in UreaPRO is the same high quality pharmaceutical grade urea that is used in ure-Na and trusted in Americas hospitals.

UreaPRO Tablets 30 dose canister with 15 grams of urea er dose. 7 tablets equals 15 grams urea.

UreaPRO Tablets comes in a canister with thirty 15 gram doses.

A 15g dose of UreaPRO is seven tablets. The tablet size is similar in size to a large multivitamin or a sevelamer tablet.

The urea in UreaPRO tablets is the same high quality pharmaceutical grade urea found in ure-Na.

Mechanism of action of urea in the treatment of hyponatremia/SIADH/SIAD

Urea normalizes sodium by inducing osmotic excretion of free water without associated electrolyte depletion. Urea also ameliorates hyponatremia in SIADH/SIAD by a more specific effect, diminishing the natriuresis in association with increased medullary urea content

European Guidelines on the Managment of Hyponatremia/SIADH

Solute content: urea versus NaCl

One 15 gram dose of UreaPRO = 250 mOsm

15 500mg NaCL Tablets =250mOsm

Two 15 gram scoops of UreaPRO = 500 mOsm

30 500mg NaCL tablets = 500 mOsm

UreaPro and BUN

Urea is produced normally in the body by the liver. As such, it is considered safe (GRAS designation by the FDA), and does not carry nephrotoxic or hepatotoxic potential. Since the blood test for BUN measures Blood Urea Nitrogen levels, it is expected that when UreaPro is administered, an increase in BUN levels may be seen. However, this isolated increase in not indicative of kidney function, and is similar to what may be seen when individuals consume a high protein diet with production of additional amounts of urea by the liver.

UreaPro should be used under medical supervision with monitoring of laboratory studies.
